Jess caught up with Senior MAC Make-Up artist Amber D to find out all about her job, the top make-up predictions for 2012 and the New Zealand Fashion Festival.
COULD YOU DESCRIBE A ‘TYPICAL DAY IN THE OFFICE?’ WHAT DOES YOUR JOB INVOLVE?
There is no typical day in the office! One day I’m in Paris working backstage at the International Collections, the next I’m body painting with the MAC team in Parnell…. every day is different – but always at high speed!
IT MUST BE EXCITING TO BE PART OF THE NEW ZEALAND FASHION FESTIVAL. WHAT WILL YOU BE CONTRIBUTING TOWARDS THE BIG EVENT?
Well, I won’t be there at all as I will be in Paris however, the MAC team will be all over the city throughout the week working backstage at the shows and presenting the amazing MAC Techniques throughout the week and we have the amazing Ocea Ferber MAC Trainer Australia here to present!

Well, besides the obvious amazing perks of working for MAC I love the people I get to work with and the ever changing environments.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE MAKE-UP LOOKS? CAN YOU PREDICT ANY BIG TRENDS FOR 2012?
Any make-up look will look best when the skin looks amazing so the focus for 2012 is athletic fresh looking skin. Prepping and using primers is key so that foundations and powders can be kept minimal.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WANTING TO GET INTO THE INDUSTRY?
Be patient and work hard. Assist, be open to learn all the time, and keep your eye on the prize.
