December 2023 Favourites

The last month of 2023! Happy December – crazy that it’s almost Christmas and another New Year’s period. In this month’s faves blog we talk about Jennette McCurdy’s podcast, a book with tales of being in a girl group, Beyoncé’s much anticipated concert film and more!

What to listen to: Hard Feelings with Jennette McCurdy
Following her incredible book, I’m Glad My Mom Died, actress and creative Jennette McCurdy, has launched her next project, a podcast where she ‘doesn’t give a f*ck’. The episodes of Hard Feelings with Jennette McCurdy cover some raw and honest topics and conversations including abandonment issues and shame. Image: Jennette McCurdy

What to read: The Girl in the Band – Belinda Chapple
If you’re like me, Bardot, the Australian girl group will be a familiar name to you. They were put together by the TV show Popstars, and pretty much instantly became household names for many around that time (the early 2000’s). Belinda Chapple, one of the five original members, has taken her story to paper in her new book, The Girl in the Band. I enjoyed reading about her journey, and was surprised to read some of the conditions they were dealing with. Image: Simon & Schuster

What to watch: Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé
The much anticipated Beyoncé movie is now in cinemas! Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé follows the journey of her incredible world tour from the opening night in Sweden to the last stop of the tour in Kansas City. We can only hope (and ask the live music gods) for the tour to have some dates down under, but until then we can catch the action on the big screen, it’s in cinemas now. Image: Beyoncé

What to eat: Chia pudding
I’m not sure about you but I’m not a big breakfast person, however I know that it can be such an important factor in starting your day right so one thing I’ve been trying out is chia puddings (probably really late to the party). This recipe is gluten free and vegan and something that can also be good for your gut – perhaps you could taste test this Raspberry ripple chia pudding via BBC Good Food – https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/raspberry-ripple-chia-pudding

Who to follow: WE THE URBAN
This Instagram account seems to ‘come in clutch’ as they say just when you’re needing a boost. As I was putting together this faves blog, I was having a bit of a scroll through Instagram (as you do!) and their recent ‘Nine Things You Needed To Hear Today’ post came up. As I was sliding through the affirmations, that couldn’t have been more true. @wetheurban if you didn’t already have it on your radar. Image: We The Urban
