Welcome to 2024!

Happy New Year! It’s officially 2024 but I’m sure that won’t stop many of us accidentally writing 2023 for the weeks ahead… (LOL!). This month we share Tom Sainsbury’s podcast, Dawn French’s The Twat Files, Wonka has reached the cinema screen and more!

What to listen to: Small Town Podcast
Take NZ comedian Tom Sainsbury, 40 characters (all of them are voiced by him) and a podcast setup, and you’ve got a brand new season of his Small Town Scandal, true crime parody series! Small Town Scandal is ‘entertaining and intriguing’ and just picked up silver for the Best Comedy Podcast in the NZ Podcast Awards 2023. You can check out both seasons of his podcast online. Image: iHeartRadio

What to read: The Twat Files – Dawn French

British funny woman, actress and writer, Dawn French has recently released ‘a memoir of sorts’, The Twat Files, compiling parts of her journey where she classed herself as ‘an actual twat’. The Twat Files is available now to read about her adventures, and better yet, you can catch her live show when it comes to New Zealand this May/June – she will be performing in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Image: Dawn French

What to watch: Wonka
An all star cast featuring Timothée Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman and more, bring Roald Dahl’s classic characters back to life in this new adaptation of the classic story – this is Wonka. Kim even attended the Hollywood premiere for the film last month and gave it a 10/10 – head into cinemas now to check it out on the big screen!Image: Flicks NZ

What to eat: Ambrosia
The sun is finally shining (well today it was anyway!) and recently I have seen some videos pop up of people making ambrosia, and it made me think how good a Kiwi style Ambrosia is around the Summer holidays! A cold sweet treat for these hot and humid days, give it a whirl! Image: New World https://www.newworld.co.nz/recipes/desserts/ambrosia

Who to follow: prettyromanticreviews
I may sound a little biased, as Kim makes up half of this instagram page (the other half being her fiancé Tom!) but I thought with some new posts up on the account, this would be the perfect time to share @prettyromanticreviews, in case you haven’t already had a look! Follow their adventures all over the world (most recently in Aotearoa’s stunning own backyard, the South Island) and get some inspo for your next journey!
