Get active on your LA trip – #notatourist

Los Angeles prides itself on being ahead of the game when it comes to health, fitness and new trends. I’ve teamed up with Visa to help you to feel like part of the culture, experience the LA vibe and bring you some of the latest activities that are #soLAnative right now.

Horseriding

1. Horse riding with a group of friends. This has quickly become one of the coolest things to do on a day or morning off. You get to see some of LA’s secret locations that make you feel like you are a million miles away from the city. More importantly, it’s loads of fun. If you are in Malibu try Horseback Trail Riding at Malibu Riders.

2. Paddle boarding. I am a huge lover of the ocean and there’s an awesome spot in Malibu where you are almost guaranteed to see whales, dolphins and seals. My advice, get there around 10am while the water is calm, spend a few hours on the ocean and then have lunch at Malibu Farm at the end of the pier. It’s the perfect weekend activity!

3.Wine Safari in MalibuWhat could be better than a wine tour? How about a wine tour where you get to hang out with a giraffe, feed zebras and get photos with Lamas?

Zebra

4. Shape House – Urban Sweat Lodge. Sweat away your weight or your stress. improve your sleep or your skin – Yes this is 100% a thing. Honestly you do feel great afterwards, however if you don’t handle the heat well perhaps give this one a miss!

5.Hiking. For those who are not LA natives, a hike is slang for a walk with friends in a cool area of LA. It’s usually away from the craziness of the city and typically ends by reaching a summit with a view perfect for a photo. Whether you break a sweat or not it is really up to you! Sunrise hikes are becoming increasingly popular to make sure you get that great snap first thing in the morning.

I would recommend Tree People (near Beverly Hills) or Malibu Creek State Park. Malibu Creek State Park requires you to not have a fear of heights and to be willing to jump of a large rock into a water hole at the end. There is literally no other way to make it out so be prepared to get wet!

That’s it folks, my five must try activities while visiting Los Angeles. Oh and remember to pack your Visa and if you ever happen to lose it or have it stolen (hey these things happen) – they’ll replace it, even while you’re travelling. For more travel inspiration head here.
