Kimberley’s Blog: Self development 101

Hey team,

Hope you are having a great week so far.

I have learnt a lot this week. I have been reading a book called the 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. I really encourage you to read it. I have been reaching out to those closest to me and asking them lots of questions about how they receive and give love. The idea is that there are five ways to give and receive love and how we “give” is ultimately how we want to receive love in return. Being aware of how people show love is important as we all express it in different ways, some use words, others use time. It’s really insightful. The five ways are: Quality time, gifts, acts of service, words of affirmation and touch.

I had a great acting class on Sunday where we are working on emotional triggers and really listening to those thoughts or voices that we suppress in our everyday life and trying to hear them and access them in a safe way so we can use them in our work. I always find those types of exercises encourage you to learn more about yourself and really listen to what is going on within you.

Apart from all my soul searching and self-development this week I have had a bunch of fun with friends. A group of us had a sleep over on Saturday night. Honestly I think sleepovers are one of my favourite things. I feel I used to have sleepovers all the time when I was younger and as you grow up they happen less and less… my advice this week, organise a sleep over with some of your best friends. Let me know if you do it and how it went!

I have been spending a bunch of time with my close group of girlfriends here in LA and it has made me feel full of joy and inspiration. We dance, eat delicious food and just hang out.

Kimberley xx
