Kimberley’s Blog: Dog surfing & singing

Hey team,

I hope you all had a great weekend and the week is off to a great start.

I spent the weekend in Huntington Beach and I loved every minute of it. Over the past month I have been stepping outside my comfort zone and taking singing lessons. I have never really learnt how to sing and I often am required to sing in auditions. It always makes me feel self-conscious so I decided to take some lessons and gain confidence with my voice and learn how to actually create a good sound. I am really enjoying it and my teacher said I was exceeding expectations and impressing him, which to me is such a huge compliment! Woohoo. All that practicing in traffic is paying off.

The highlight of the weekend, aside from great company, wonderful food and bike rides, would have to be the dog surfing competition I went to yesterday. I thought “oh how cute, there will be a few dogs and a few people” – no. This was a full scale serious event with commentators, a competitors area, food stands and a beach lined with hundreds of people cheering on the dogs as they were pushed on to waves by their owners then did a series of tricks on the board as it came in to shore. Possibly one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. So I guess dog surfing is an actual thing!

I wrapped up the weekend at a friends BBQ and then had an early night – riveting I know ha ha. I have a feeling the week ahead is going to be a big one.

Sending lots of love.

Kimberley xx
