How to create your own morning/evening routine

With the season changes in full swing by now, it’s easy to feel unsettled and restless because of it. Getting into a routine always helps me get over this, so here are 10 tips on how you can create your own morning and evening routines.

Morning

  • Wake up at the same time everyday

While this may not always be possible everyday (I get it, I’m a big fan of the weekend sleep in too!), training your body to wake up the same time everyday is key to healthy sleep.

  • Stretch

Wake your body up right by stretching slowly. If you practice yoga, it’s good to do it in the morning too.

  • Drink water with lemon

Before you even hit the coffee, why not try a refreshing glass of water with lemon instead? It helps with digestive health and rehydrates your body.

  • Blast music

I have a morning playlist that I blast when I get ready for the day. It’s filled with upbeat songs that make me happy and sometimes I even have a little dance party of my own in the living room. Definitely a great way to start the day!

  • Make your bed

Nothing makes me feel more productive in the morning than making my bed. It gives me a real sense of achievement to know that even before I leave the house, I’ve already ticked off a task.

Evening

  • Take your make-up off / wash your face

Not only will you feel refreshed, but for me the act of removing my makeup and washing my face also feels like I’m washing off the day.

  • Write a to do list

This tip has saved me a lot of time from tossing and turning in bed worrying about everything I need to do the next day! Write your to do list the night before because that way you’ll have a clear mind and all you need to do is review it in the morning!

  • Do something relaxing

Whether that’s reading a book, calling a loved one, or writing, I make sure I set aside time to relax and do something that makes me happy.

  • Think back on your day and ask yourself what you’re grateful for

This in particular gets me in a good mood for bed and helps put things into perspective after a bad day. There’s always something to be grateful for, even if it’s just the little things like having a warm bed to sleep in!

  • Drink a warm non-caffeinated beverage

I don’t know what it is about sipping a warm bevvy before that – whether it’s decaf tea or warm milk with honey (definitely my preferred drink of choice!) but I find slowly enjoying a warm beverage before bed really gets me ready for a good sleep!

I definitely think routines are key to productivity and happier days. Hope these tips help and let us know if you have any more tips for us too!
