August Favourites

It’s officially the eighth month of the year…we continue to go full steam ahead to the New Years 2020 – it’s all going a little bit too fast I think!

August brings a new album for Mabel, travelling abroad, funny woman Tiffany Haddish and the much anticipated live action remake of Disney’sThe Lion King.

Music: Mabel
You’ve probably already heard Mabel’s catchy tune ‘Don’t Call Me Up’, the Spanish native has also just dropped her album High Expectationswhich has been three years in the making. Mabel is excited about the release saying, “it took time, many lessons, ups, downs, heartbreak and all of the bits in between to be able to make the project that I’ve always dreamt of making.”The record is about ‘self love and confidence’and all power to this girl, who is just getting started in showing the world her Mad Love.

Travel: Rome
Roma, Roma, Roma – what a dreamy location! When I think of Rome, scenes from 2000’s teen classics Hilary Duff’s Lizzie McGuire Movieand Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen’s When In Romedo come to mind. The famous Trevi Fountain is a hotspot (especially for an iconic gram snap!) plus taking in the architecture sights of the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon and the Colosseum outside and the indoor museums have to be on the list. Plus all of the food and drink choices…Italian style. ‘This is what dreams are made of’as Lizzie would say!

Book: The Last Black Unicorn – Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany Haddish is hilarious. I love even watching her in interviews, a comedic genius. Alongside leading roles in Girls Tripand Night School, Tiffany can add animation to her impressive continuously growing catalogue of work with The Secret Life of Pets 2. Her New York Times Best Selling book, The Last Black Unicorndelves into her life of wanting to make people laugh and inspire people – sharing her ‘extremely’personal essays with the world.

Film: The Lion King
The much anticipated live-action remake of Disney classic The Lion King has finally hit screens with a stunning cast and soundtrack to match. Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) and Beyonce leading the pack as Simba and Nala with Seth Rogan, Keegan-Michael Key, Chance The Rapper and James Earl Jones bringing the beloved characters to life. Some cinemas have even organised R18+ screenings due to demand by patrons wanting to watch without children! The Lion Kingis in roaring in cinemas right now.
