Wowee, last month really took a turn eh? It’s officially September and even though we’re stuck in lockdown, we will get through this – will have to be just dreamin’ of summer for now.
This month we round up new music from UK’s Mimi Webb, NZ advocate Jess Quinn turns her story into a book, some new tunes for your playlists and fresh TV series to get amongst.
Music: Mimi Webb
You may have already heard British-local Mimi Webb’s voice as she has been taking over the airwaves (and the festival stages in the UK… bit of jealousy of their live events while we sit here in lockdown!). Mimi also has built a loyal following online and has been working on her musical craft for years (it shows!). Her tunes Good Without and Dumb Love have racked up tens of millions of streams and she’s been selling out shows left, right and centre in the UK – Mimi Webb’s star is certainly only on the rise!
Book: Jess Quinn – Still Standing
After 2 and a half years of writing, NZ advocate and cancer survivor Jess Quinn is about to release her story in book form with Still Standing: What I’ve Learnt from a Life Lived Differently. Jess sharing her story like this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise because she’s so incredibly open and honest online with her journey, she’s also a big advocate for normalising ‘different’ and body acceptance/positivity. The book even has
testimonial’s from kiwi legends Suzy Cato and Hilary Barry so you know it’s going to be good! Still Standing is due for release on 14th of September.
TV: What’s streaming
I don’t know about you but I’ve spent a fair chunk of time catching up on new TV series while in lockdown and there’s some great fresh options online like the new reboot of Gossip Girl, Love Island UK & USA plus The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco’s new series The Flight Attendant. I’m also looking forward to seeing the new season of Celebrity Treasure Island featuring our very own Kim Crossman (playing for the incredible SPCA!) and it is co-hosted by ZM’s Bree. The new season hits TV2 next week (September 6th).

A short and sweet quote this month that can easily be used for current times: “I am making the brave decision to keep going anyway.” – Morgan Harper Nichols (a brilliant digital account to follow if you don’t already!)
