August 2023 Favourites

Happy August! We’re officially into the second half of 2023, it sure is flying by!

In this month’s faves blog we share a new podcast to listen to, Chloe Dalton’s book Girls Don’t Play Sport, the iconic Barbie film is in cinemas, an Instagram account to follow and a food brand you may be interested in.

What to listen to: No Such Thing as Normal
This month we check out the No Such Thing as Normal podcast, hosted by Sonia Gray. The 10-part series project was put together with a focus on listeners being able to understand people with neurodivergence. The latest episode features our very own, Kimberley Crossman, speaking about her journey and experience with dyslexia. What to read: Chloe Dalton – Girls Don’t Play Sport
Gold medalist Olympian Chloe Dalton is this month releasing a book, Girls Don’t Play Sport. In 2020 she founded The [Female] Athlete Project to be a platform to share news about all the wonderful things happening in the women’s sporting world. This book explores the past, present and future of women’s sport and you can get your hands on a copy of Girls Don’t Play Sport on the 15th of August. Image: AU 7s

What to watch: Barbie
Hi Barbie! Sorry you probably don’t need a nudge to go see this one, but the Barbie movie is officially out in cinemas with a stellar cast and a bangin’ soundtrack. Catch Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Dua Lipa and more in director Greta Gerwig’s world of the iconic BarbieImage: Barbie the Movie

What to eat: Fodmapped Meals
This isn’t a hashtag AD, I promise, I’m just a big fan of this brand, Fodmapped for you – I can’t have wheat or onion (and know many people can’t either!) and that can make picking up pre-prepared meals (actually a lot of packaged food at the supermarket!) a little harder. This brand has onion-free and gluten free soups, simmer sauces, pasta sauces and ready to eat meals – I recommend keeping a look out for their range the next time you’re at the shops! Image: Fodmapped

What to follow: Female Collective
I don’t know about you but I love seeing a sprinkle of empowerment or inspiration in my Instagram feed – sometimes mid-scroll it is just what you need to see! Female Collective is a Self Love Community page and perhaps you’ll find some of their posts resonate with you or even have you thinkin’ – @femalecollective.
