Happy April! This month we chat about Amy Poehler’s new podcast, Dr Julie Smith’s latest book, the Tinā film (directed by Miki Magasiva), prepping meals & easter treats and a new Instagram account to check out!

What to listen to: Good Hang with Amy Poehler
Internationally known actress and comedian Amy Poehler has launched a new podcast. Good Hang with Amy Poehler sees the funny woman sitting down with ‘fun people’ in her studio to chat about their life stories, but also what has been making them laugh (it’s a podcast being led by a hilarious human after all). The guests so far have included Tina Fey, Martin Short, Rashida Jones and Ike Barinholtz – you can stream these episodes now.

What to read: Dr Julie Smith – Open When…
You may have read Dr Julie’s previous book Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? (Which has sold over a million copies). The clinical psychologist, content creator and New York Times Bestselling Author has released Open When… a book that is set out to carry people through ‘life’s difficult moments’. She said ‘some of these chapters have helped me find my stride when I might otherwise have been freefalling this year. And I want them to do the same for you, whatever life is challenging you with.’ The Open When… book is available now.

Following premiering at the Hawai’i International Film Festival, Aotearoa film Tinā, lead by Anapela Polataivao (as Samoan teacher Mareta Percival) is now taking centre stage on NZ screens. The movie follows the journey of Mareta who is challenged with grief from her daughter’s death in the Christchurch earthquakes and has to take a job as an elite private school substitute teacher and the students surprise her… Tinā, directed by Miki Magasiva, is in cinemas now.

What to eat: Meal prep + easter treats
I’m sure people can relate to sometimes being time poor when trying to put together dinner when they get home after a long day at work or throwing together a good lunch while you rush out the door… meal prepping may be a handy tool for this, and it’s easier said than done I know! I came across fitness & health coach Bec’s Instagram page (she also has a YouTube for longer form content) and have been inspired to try some of her meal prep ideas! And psst… as Easter is around the corner – one of her recent videos is an Easter Egg rocky road, have a gander! @bechardgrave

Who to follow: @theopeninvite
My explore page is always filled with different accounts that have inspirational quotes and I’m not mad about it at all! This month I’m shouting out The Open Invite – ‘a space where everyone is invited’. Need I say more? I love the quotes themselves and also the design of the posts – they’re all different and as their bio says ‘pass on the message’. Check out their page if you haven’t already – @theopeninvite
