What to read: Alyson Stoner – Semi-Well-Adjusted
You’ll likely recognise Alyson Stoner from your screens for their epic dance moves in the likes of Step Up and Camp Rock or their comedy chops in the iconic Cheaper by the Dozen, but now Alyson is opening the curtain on her journey in the industry – warts and all. Semi-Well Adjusted Despite Literally Everything covers from navigating it all at age eight to now, a mental health advocate who wants to help others, based on their lived experience. The book is out now.

What to watch: Pike River
The Pike River film, based on the tragedy that rocked NZ fifteen years ago, focuses on capturing the impact of one of the worst mining disasters in the country’s history. Melanie Lynskey and Robyn Malcolm portray the true story of two women who lost their loved ones and are at the forefront of campaigning for the truth. The film is set to hit the big screen later this month, head to flicks.co.nz to find out what cinema near you is playing it!

What to eat: Gluten Free Food Festival
This one’s especially for all my fellow gluten free people! The Gluten Free Food Festival is happening this weekend at the Due Drop Event Centre in Manukau, Auckland. The event, brought to you by Arnotts (their Gluten Free Tim Tams taste just like the standard ones – this statement is not an ad, I wish! I’m just a big fan), with patrons being able to experience gluten free food from a bunch of different vendors! It’s not often we can walk into a place and have so many options, so make sure you head along to get amongst it if you’re around! Tickets available now via Eventfinda.
