5 THINGS TO DO WHEN TRAVELING FROM CHRISTCHURCH TO OHAU ❤️

1. Grab a pie from Fairlie. We were worried it might be all hype, but we can confirm that the pies here are well worth it! We went with the classic mince and cheese, but we’ve heard that the pork and crackling is the one to try if it’s on offer that day! 10/10 🥧

2. Get a cheesy photo at a landmark. The giant salmon is a great stop to use the loo, play on the playground, and stretch your legs. 📸

3. Hire a fun car. We tried out the new Cupra from SIXT. In all honesty, I hadn’t even heard of a Cupra before, and this little beast was a true joy. It’s sporty, fun, comfortable, and a great size to accommodate both of us and all our gear while making us feel badass! We now only rent cars from SIXT because of their epic service and amazing choice of vehicles. 🏎️

4. Shop local. A lot of the small towns you travel through rely on tourism to inject some money into the community. If you’re going through Kurow, we found the most amazing store called Whistle and Pop. We not only left with cowboy hats, but also got a new candle to take to LA and some amazing cards. 🎩

5. Stay at The Barn at Killin B&B in Ohau. This bed and breakfast was one of the most impressive stays we’ve ever had. Each room had a theme, the décor was unlike anything we had experienced, the food was exceptional, and the company unparalleled. We loved listening to records on the gramophone and talking to the hosts. It’s hard to believe that this place burned to the ground just a few years ago in the fires. It’s honestly worth the trip to Ohau just to stay there!

Is there anything we missed we should check out next time?
