#badasschicks : Interview with Noelle Mulligan

How did you get started?

I grew up in Salt Lake City Utah. I grew up snowboarding rockclimbing skateboarding off Roading jeeps, just being all around active. We were always playing outside, I would spend summers in Florida, I’ve always love to play! I told my mom when I was 10 but I wanted to be a skydiving instructor when I grew up, a professional surfer, and an actress. I always had a handy cam in my hand, and have been filled making sense I was a kid. I love telling story, I love making people laugh, and I love adventure.  I also have a question, when did we stop playing and start exercising? I feel like we’re all really just kids that got taller, we could all use more purposeful play in our lives.

What inspires you? Who do you admire?

There are many things that inspire me in many different rounds, I did my degree in emergency medicine and worked in the ER in neurosurgery. Working with patients, healthcare staff, and the general feel of healing, it has been a huge driving force in my life. I do surf  therapy with an organization called a walk on water here in California, we take children with special needs surfing. I adore and I’m inspired consistently by our serve therapy team, our children, and their families. I am surrounded by an incredible community of stuff performers, who have spent their entire life honing  their craft, skills, and are dedicated to telling stories that bring entertainment to the world. Also, my mom. She’s the best! She has overcome terminal illness, bankruptcies, family struggles, and has the biggest heart. My mom is the reason I am who I became. Love you mom!

Name one of your accomplishments that you’re most proud of?

When I was in college, I wanted to do an internship with an air medical team called AirMed at the University of Utah Hospital. They had never had an intern before, so I figured out what I could do to be a viable option and an important resource for them. So, I created an entire internship program. And I became their very first in-flight Intern it was an experience that has shaped me and meant a great deal to me. I love that team in everything they do.

What does your daily schedule involve?

I train four hours a day six days a week. This includes skateboarding, snowboarding, rockclimbing, by training, fall training, yoga, any kind of training that will prepare me in order to be ready for whatever job will come my way. This can also include driving, acting, whatever it is to improve my skill set. On top of that, I hold myself to sending out 100 emails a week, to network connect and hustle to gain work introduce myself to the right people, and make sure that I am progressing in my stunt an acting career. In addition to Stunts, I may content based on an adventure service and education. I’m consistently searching for my next adventure, my whole idea is that I want to prove to people that they can. It’s never been about look at me, it’s always been about like it this! Service is a big part of my life, I teach little girls to skateboard, do you serve therapy, what with environmental organizations such as the earths ocean foundation, and love to learn new things. I’m constantly curious, and on a mission to learn see do all the things I can while I have this blessing of being alive. I love my family, I love my friends, it’s all about that.

Tell us about some of the challenges you face regularly?

We are consistently searching for our next job. So we can get a little stressful, think about it like completing a job 100 times easier. Or maybe not 100, but you get the general idea. It’s a constant search and hustle for the next thing, you set yourself up for perpetual rejection with auditions and casting of, and chasing a dream that you’re really passionate about is always really hard.but the reward is always greater than the rest, because I’m a firm believer if you never try, you’ll never know.  It’s an interesting time to be away from family and friends, also when it seems like everyone is getting married and having babies, and you’re just trying to figure out how to go grocery shopping, or remember to make your bed, or if you’ll even have enough to fill up your gas tank, but I think that’s just life. We are incredibly lucky to live in a space where we have the opportunity to chase dreams. I think it’s our job to send the elevator back down, anyone who may not have made it to the space yet, it’s our job to show them that they can come and help create those opportunities so they can also grow

What is the best thing about the way you live your life?

if Huge sense of freedom, accomplishment, and love for what I do. I meet so many amazing people along the way that  are chasing their dreams too. I’ve definitely found my tribe, and it feels awesome to have broken out of life that was set before me, that was when I never want to anyway. That’s the thing you have to chase what’s right for you, and no one knows what that is except for you. Don’t cheat yourself out of the life that you wanted.

What do you find is hardest part and what makes you nervous?

Sometimes it’s a lot of pressure, and LA is not the easiest city. I don’t necessarily get nervous under pressure, it’s kind of how I thrive. With working in emergency medicine, stand, it’s a very similar mindset. You just going to go zone and you get it done. I think if I thought about it more right before I did the sun, it would be a little more stressful. But that wouldn’t serve anyone. I think what makes me nervous,is ensuring that I’m getting out everything out of life, rather than the daily activities. I just want to live a full one.

What’s at the top of your goals/bucket list?

I want to see you travel all over the world, work with kids in orphanages underprivileged communities, or paste basically anyone that wants to try something new. I want to bring skateboarding snowboarding, climbing, karate, whatever it is common to people all over. I also want to swim with pigs at pig beach, go surfing in Bali, open a taco stand on the beach somewhere, squish grapes in Italy, you know!

I want to host my own shell, whether that’s from a content creating or otherwise, I want to obtain a more active role, and I want to travel.

Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?

I would love to connect with anyone that has a big dream, connecting with brands that share my same vision, I’ve always been a big jeep girl. I would love to connect with other content creators better on my same mission, people that like to laugh and have fun, and don’t take things so seriously.

When you have spare moments in your day, what would we find you doing?

Sleeping ha ha, I always need a nap. My mind goes on overdrive all the time, I’m always running around, and sometimes I need to just recharge. Grey’s Anatomy is my favorite show, so I’ll kick back with some spaghetti Grey’s Anatomy and take a nap. I also love writing spoken word, painting, and I’m in the middle of writing a children’s book. So just depends on the day.

Where is somewhere you’d love to travel or attend a festival/event?

Bali! Anywhere in Central America, Thailand! There are so many places to see it! I want to see them all! The northern lights, I have to see them.

Who are your favorite music artists to listen to and TV show to watch?

Right now odesza is my favorite! Sometimes I’m in a beastie boys made, sometimes I want to listen to Jack Johnson, sometimes gestafelstein, I really like Alina Baraz and disclosure.

Grey’s Anatomy is hands-down my favorite show!

Do you have a favorite quote you like to live by?

There are so many that I love! But right now it’s the classic Nietzsche “and those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music”

What’s the best piece of life advice you’ve received and from whom?

That’s hard! There are so many amazing people that I’ve got of me along the way. Right now actually was a thought that I personally had, in thinking that. When fear arises when we’re trying to do something, think of things like in the terms of death. When you’re on your deathbed, are you going to be so happy that you didn’t do that thing today? Are you going to be stoked that you were mean to this person? Are you going to be glad that you miss that opportunity? No. The idea is this is the life we have, and it’s time to do it now.

Where would you like to see yourself in 1 year, 3 years?

Being a successful stop before Mark, world traveler, posting content, and connecting with the moving people over the world. I would like to have a place in LA and New York, maybe Hawaii. Be able to snowboard and serve, connect and play!
