It’s guaranteed – life is going to throw you curveballs, all the damn time. While some of these things can be major, don’t allow it completely take over.
First of all, positivity comes from within. You’ve probably heard this a hundred times and thought ‘yeah whatever’ but seriously, if you can’t bring positive energy to your own table, who will? Another key to this puzzle is surrounding yourself with like-minded people – it’s simple really, positive people bring positive energy and negative people bring a negative energy.
Isn’t it crazy how they don’t teach you these sorts of life skills in school? Why were we learning algebra and trigonometry for years when this is the sort of thing we would deal with on a daily basis!
Next, find things that empower you! This could literally be anything as everyone is different but it may include reading a good book, watching a hilarious film, listening to music, seeing your favourite band in concert, going out to grab a bite with your pals or generally having a productive day.
Take the mistakes and heartaches as lessons. Learn from them, grow from them and take them with you as you forgive and forget, those experiences will become a distant memory. It’s not going to be easy with highs and lows but as Oprah once said you’ve got to ‘think like a queen.’ “A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness.”
Love yourself – scream Hailee Steinfield’s Love Myself tune from the rooftops ‘I love me!’. We all have moments where we look in the mirror and have bad hair days and times where we’re not happy with our body. It’s time to wipe that away, have your moment and then pick yourself back up (heck roll out of bed one more time for effect!) and say ‘I love me!’ in the mirror until you believe it and start your day.
Create your own form of motivation and inspiration by doing what makes you happy. “I think that it is very important if you know what you want, understand where you are heading towards, and try your best to get it. It is only when we use our hearts to do it, and fall in love with what we are doing, then we can really get real determination.” – Emma Watson
Hustle and hustle harder. Nobody’s going to do it for you, you’ve got to get out there and reach for the stars (not just a S Club 7 reference) to achieve your dreams, goals and aspirations. Setting milestones, plans and constant to-do lists will help you along your way – it always seems to be easier when it’s written down so that you can eye ball it on the daily.
One of my favourite quotes is hanging on my wall, the gold foil print surprisingly reminds me to, “Dream big. Speak the truth. Work hard. Treasure your friends. Be awesome.”
These are just a couple of things to remind yourself while aboard this rollercoaster of life. Remember, life is what you make of it so go out there and you do you!
