April Favourites

Happy Easter and welcome to April! As the fourth month of the year rolls on, we check out Sabrina Carpenter’s new track, a book for all the kiwi girls and a picturesque place to add to your travel list.

Music: Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter has left her Girl Meets World days behind her as she embarks on a solo musical journey. The former Disney star has previously released an album EVOLution and has a collaboration with The Vamps to her name. Sabrina’s latest tune comes in the form of a partnership with Jonas Blue, titled Alien. If you haven’t listened to her yet, I recommend giving Thumbs a play.

Travel: Bora Bora
While I continue to stand by New Zealand having the best views in the world, there are certainly some places in the world giving us a run for our money – including French Polynesia’s Bora Bora. A couple of the YouTubers I follow on Instagram recently went to the Tahiti island and the envy was real – how unreal does that clear blue water look?!

Book: Go Girl: A Storybook of Epic NZ Women
Barbara Else has put together this month’s must-read. The hard cover book details the life stories of some of the most ‘epic NZ women’ to have walked the earth. In between the beautiful illustrations, paints the can-do attitude of many great kiwi gals.

Lucy Lawless, Kate Sheppard, Lorde, Lydia Ko, Margaret Mahy and Sophie Pascoe are among those shared in the book. The publisher, Penguin claimed that it’s a book that’s for ‘every Kiwi girl, from age seven to one hundred and seven’ and I believe they’re exactly right, it’s available now online and in store.

Film: Love, Simon
‘Everyone deserves a great love story’, one that has Rolling Stone calling it “a genuine groundbreaker”. Join Simon (Nick Robinson) as he tries to navigate high school while struggling with telling everyone that he’s gay and not knowing the identity of the classmate he’s in a relationship with online. The drama is based on a novel and also stars 13 Reasons Why’s Katherine Langford, Josh Duhamel and Jennifer Garner – in cinemas now.

Quote: Ariana Grande

“Be happy with being you. Love your flaws. Own your quirks and know that you are just as perfect as anyone else, exactly as you are.” – Ariana Grande
